Yes. Making and sharing clips is free, and you don’t need an account. Signing in with Google is optional and adds a personal library where you can organise, reorder, hide, or delete your clips.
Does it download or re-upload the video?
No. A clip is just a reference — the YouTube video ID plus a start and end time. Playback always happens in YouTube’s official embedded player, so the video stays on YouTube with its creator.
How is this different from sharing a YouTube link with a timestamp?
A timestamp link only sets where the video starts. A clip also has an end time, so it stops — or loops — at the end of the moment you picked.
Can I loop a section of a YouTube video?
Yes. Turn on Loop when you create a clip (or on the clip page) and the selected section will replay continuously — handy for learning music, dance, sports technique, or languages.
What happened to YouTube’s Clip feature?
YouTube’s built-in Clip feature, which let viewers share a short looping segment of a video, has been retired. YouTube Clips brings the same idea back and works with any video that allows embedding.
Which YouTube links work?
Standard youtube.com/watch links, youtu.be short links, YouTube Shorts, live and embed links all work, including links with a t= timestamp. Videos whose owners have disabled embedding can’t be played outside YouTube.
